I am most content when in the midst of a mosaic art project, where I combine broken bits and create a whole new thing with colors and shapes that please me.

New Project - Outdoor Sign - South Austin Music
This morning I'm on my way to Daltile for two 3'x5' pieces of Wedi board, and then to Blue Moon Glassworks to order 60 pounds of glass for an outdoor sign for South Austin Music.
Hmm, my comment didn't "take." May show up later as a double comment. Thanks, Irene. As you know, I just finished a large project, the space mosaics, and now immediately going into another one. That's okay; it's a good time of year for it. (Not too hot and not too cold to work outside.) Hope the weather holds long enough for me to grout this outside.
Mosaic artist west of Austin. Email me at silvahayes@gmail.com with any questions you have.
I began this blog in 2008 to document mosaic projects starting with stair risers. Stained glass, broken pottery, vintage jewelry, tiles, and found objects.
I paint with oils, acrylics, and silk threads and have done wall murals in homes around Lake Travis.
Every day I do something that involves MOSAICS -- it's my passion, along with family and friends. I use stained glass, broken china, tiles, vintage jewelry, and other 'found' objects. If you have a question email me. I research glues, substrates, grouting, indoor vs. outdoor and all aspects of mosaic art. Email: silvahayes@gmail.com. Sounds like you will be busy working on a project. Have fun at the Glass Shop.
