Fourth of July Owl

I just completed this example of the use of recycled materials in mosaics. The substrate is a ceramic owl figurine I bought at a thrift shop that had the tips of its tufts chipped. During the terrific hail storm we had back in April, one of my daughter's beautiful ceramic mushrooms was broken and I saved the pieces. Those are the brown and dark red. A ceramic soap dispenser of hers was leaking and that's the white around the eyes. Today, July 4, is her birthday, so this is one of her presents!
6.5" tall and 5" wide.

You just gotta love mosaics.....saving items from the landfills.

Thank you, Ramona. It was fun to do. Now back to the big stuff I'm working on.
